Serbia bounced back from their defeat to Germany on Monday by getting their World Team Cup campaign back on track with victory over Russia.

World No. 294 Dusan Lajovic was a late replacement for the injured Janko Tipsarevic and he made full use of his chance with a battling 1-6 7-6(6) 6-4 win over Igor Andreev. The victory was clinched with Viktor Troicki brushing aside the challenge of Mikhail Youzhny 6-3 6-1 in 74 minutes.

USA are locked together at 1-1 with Kazakhstan. Mardy Fish made a fine start to the Red Group clash with a 6-4 6-2 win over Andrey Golubev. However, Kazakhstan ensured the tie will be decided in the doubles as Mikhail Kukushkin fought back to beat Sam Querrey 3-6 7-5 7-5.

Florian Mayer fought back from a set down to give hosts Germany a 1-0 lead over Spain, defeating Marcel Granollers 4-6 6-4 6-2.

Defending champion Argentina made a fine start to their clash with Sweden as Juan Ignacio Chela needed just 61 minutes to beat Christian Lindell 6-1 6-1.
