Another example of lighter eyed/complexion Cretan. Interesting that these types exist in Crete where you have such as a high West Asian, Caucasus and/or North African element. This person may have lower NA component but typical West Asian admixture. There was minimal Slav influence in Crete from what I've read. He does have a look similar to my red headed cousins in Messinia. Messinia has a higher Slav component than the rest of the Peloponnese and the Western part of Messinia was settled by Franks/Ventians. Could be Venetian/Frank influence in this guy as well.

Cretans are genetically closest to Sicilians but when you see types like this you wonder how that could be.

The thing is we can't always blame slavs or venetians for such features when these groups themselves don't have a majority of such types.
It'd be nice if we had a large west Cretan&Sfakiot sample survey(where such people are more common) like the one about tsakonians&maniots .

I think western Crete would be more like Maniots, Cyclades, etc.

I think it is central and eastern Crete where they are more like southern Italians.
