East Europeans from around this time period seemed to be more similar to modern west Europeans than modern east Europeans.

Interestingly this one is specifically most similar to modern British people. Almost as if he was ancestral to them.
Because British people from that time (2600 BC) were more similar to modern Sardinians than to modern Brits.

He may be. Aren't west Europeans descended from these beakers?

Interesting. So very little of modern Britain's ancestry comes from neolithic Britains. Where did the first bell beakers emerge and how did they spread across europe so fast.

Not these Beakers specifically. British Beakers were descended from the Rhenish Beakers, this Polish Beaker has local Globular Amphora admixture which makes them superficially closer to modern Brits.

I think these Polish Beakers were R1b-Z2103, so not ancestral to my R1b-DF27:

Beakers probably from Hungary pushed corded ware out of Central Europe further to the east where they persisted as the Fatyanovo-Balanovo complex. Eventually their descendants would retake this land back in subsequent slavic expansions.

These particular rhenish beakers came from single grave probably. No one really knows where the BBC package itself originated. There’s also evidence that suggests they engaged in mounted archery and with the use of horses they overwhelm Western Europe pretty quickly.
