Very interesting. So these results unofficially confirm that R1a is a 'North Slavic' haplogroup?

This guy was ancestral to ALL of modern R1a - including Germanic and Indo-Aryan branches of R1a as well - not JUST to Balto-Slavic R1a.

Most similar to Northwestern Europeans, as always. The Bronze Age steppe was Western European in essence.

Most similar to Northwestern Europeans, as always.
You must be kidding, he is equally similar to Eastern and Northwestern. Look at Mixed Mode in K13.
And this is not because he was a mix of both groups, but because he was ancestral to both groups.
Later some of his descendants went east, some went west and they drifted differently over generations.
Compare with the Yamnya sample from modern Kazakhstan. The sample quality is exceptionally good

It seems that if you mix a Northern European person with a little bit of Northern South Asians like Brahui or Kalash and add a bit of Caucasus stuff you'd have a ''proto-Indo-European''.

You are reading it backwards... in this particular case he scores it because he was ancestral to these populations.
These components are based on modern populations, which inherited such DNA from their ancestors like this guy.
In K36 he does not score any South Asian (in K36 it is more strictly defined as indigenous hunters of South Asia).

You are reading it from the end... in this particular case he scores it because he was ancestral to these populations.
These components are based on modern populations, which inherited such DNA from their ancestors like this guy.
Makes sense. But aren't Kalash, Brahui and Caucasians mostly Neolithic Iranian or CHG? I thought they weren't that steppe admixed. Doesn't make sense for them to be in mixed mode with populations very rich in steppe like Northern Europeans if these proto-IEs didn't had at least a bit of their main components.
Despite being closer to Northern Europeans by far the first Indo-Europeans had some stuff modern Northern Euros don't have. But I may be wrong.

They are, but AFAIK components in K13 calc. are based on modern Brahui, Kalash etc. - not on ancient CHG samples.
So when you make a component from a population that is mostly CHG + some Steppe, you still include some Steppe.

He already had some EEF admixture - he was autosomally very similar to later samples from Corded Ware Culture:

So why are many Corded Ware Germany samples identical as Sredny Stog II with R1a-M417 in this admixture bar graph?:

Oh great ancestor we bow before you. I tried doing a one to one compare but it tells me that his kit does not exist. Is Gedmatch Genesis a different platform?
OK, it is a different platform. I have no matches with this guy.

Yes Gedmatch Genesis is a bit different compared to regular Gedmatch:

Most similar to Northwestern Europeans, as always. The Bronze Age steppe was Western European in essence.
Interesting that R1a is a minority in modern Western Europeans.

R1a is very numerous in places like Norway and Scandinavia in general.

Yeah, Yamnaya was not the first Proto-Indo-European culture. Caucasus-related ancestry is from HGs in the North Caucasus region and already existed in Khvalynsk.

Conventionally the Yamnaya are thought to have been the PIE culture which spread westwards.
P.S. Nice to see you back, brat! You are the real Aryan here

Interestingly this Sredny Stog guy can be modelled as mixture of Yamnaya and GAC but Yamnaya did not exist 6000 years ago so there was already a population similar to Yamnaya in the steppe prior to Yamnaya. Maybe this was Repin?

It already existed in a small quantity in a Karelian hunter-gatherer from ca. 5500 BC.

He was from Sredny Stog Phase II:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sredny_Stog_culture
"The expert Dmytro Telegin has divided the chronology of Sredny Stog into two distinct phases. Phase II (ca. 4000–3500 BC) used corded ware pottery which may have originated there, and stone battle-axes of the type later associated with expanding Indo-European cultures to the West. Most notably, it has perhaps the earliest evidence of horse domestication (in phase II), with finds suggestive of cheek-pieces (psalia)."
