People seem to talk about Bacha bazi of Afghanistan but i have never seen such documentaries about sexual abuse in the Middle East. How common is it in places like Iraq, North Africa? What about Iran? What is the reason behind that, lack of women or the cycle of abuse? Under-age sex abuse cases shocked Finland this year. What could be the reason behind so animalistic and perverted behaviour? Do they (rapists) experience such things themselves or what?

In Pakistan if you get raped you need to have at least 4 witnesses to go to court, otherwise the case might turn against you and you can be accused of adultery even though you were raped, so no one ever gets persecuted for that. The so called Bacha Bazi practice in Afghanistan is pre-Islamic, possibly related to the same ancient Greek practice of adult men having relations with young boys, which is also a crime punished by the death penalty there. Also, the so called 'marry-your-rapist' law (which btw was introduced by the French and was based on the French penal code) was seldomly enforced and has already been repealed in most countries.

Horrible things. But yeah, we already know about the fact that women's rights simply don't exist there (Israel is an exception). The Middle Eastern culture in Muslim dictatorships is very tribal, abusive and not fair for women. However, dirty things exist in non Muslim countries as well. People can get primitive and abusive for those in worse position, since their rights are not protected. African polygamy and sexual harassment is one of the biggest problems on this planet too. Solving those things will solve many other problems. [1]

Disgusting. However, not all problems are related to Islam. Female genital mutilation for instance predates Islam. That being said there are many other things directly linked to Islam. Apostasy laws/ death penalties for instance. Either way we should be very thankful for living in West. Let's hope that human rights will land one beautiful day in the Middle East as well. You are absolutely right about the Catholic Church. There is no denial. Whatever the reason behind that, it is disgusting and not acceptable. They have been hiding those things and traditional Catholic views on sexuality are perverted. But saying that every single Catholic country is full of those things is a bit off. Either way Catholic community heads in western countries shouldn't have any excuses since human rights are protected by laws there. They have been breaking the law by hiding those things.

Yes, Bacha Bazi practice in Afghanistan predates Islam. I was just wondering if such things exist in Middle Eastern countries as well, since dictatorships tend to produce more abusive human rats. The Middle Eastern culture is quite violent. Kids grow up in a violent culture and i believe that sexual abuse is more common in such places than it is in stable societies. Iraq is a perfect example of this. Our country has bunch of Iraqi immigrants capable of raping underage girls.

Some research points out on boys being more likely to get sexually abused than girls in the Middle East. This is very different from "Western rates". But there may be various reasons for that in this specific review.
