Bonatti is the quintessential Northern Italian from a phenotypical POV.

Atlanto-Alpine
Makes sense, Atlantic, Alpine and Dinaric influences are the strongest in Northern Italy.

I honestly find native Northern Italians to look more like the French than like 'stereotypical' Southern Europeans.

Yeah, I agree. Northwestern Italians and Po Valley people look like a transition between French, Swiss and Central-Southern Italians. Northeastern Italians look like transitional types between Germanic groups like Bavarians and Austrians*, North Balkanites and South-Central Italians.
* People from Trentino-Alto Adige are an exception since they mostly look more Germanic proper than transitional. I'd even say Tyroleans/South Tyroleans are blonder and more Germanic looking on average than Bavarians and Austrians.

I love it how you-know-who in particular would often claim that Greeks and Iberians look more like Northern than Southern Italians...

Yeah, that's absurd. Greeks pass much better in South Italy than in Northern Italy as a group.

I'd even go so far as to say that most of Greece, except maybe the northernmost border regions, is darker than even Southern Italy.
Looks alpine influenced in some photos but in others he doesnt, strange

Yeah, I have the impression Southern Italians are lighter than most Greeks as well.
