Slovenes and NW Croats don't have much more Slavic ancestry than other southwest Slavs, what's pulling them northern is increased South German like DNA and decreased native Balkan.
In Dalmatia and Bosnia northern shift is very much exculsively Slavic and they are probably purest Slavs in southern part of Europe. But they have more native balkan dna than Slovenes and north Croats.

You got members like Vlatko Vuković or father of Jana and other Dalmatians whose results I have seen who are more Slav than me or some random Slovenes despite they are more southern plotting.
That's why people from these regions are eastern shifted in general and come close to Moldavians (who are basically East Slav/Balkan mix) while guys like me are very close to Magyars and Austrians (Slav/South German/Balkan mix)

Same can be observed in Y dna. Dalmatia/Bosnia are some of most Slavic regions in entire Europe (like 70% I2-din + R1a) while Slovenia and North Croatia are up to 30% R1b + I1, and mostly western R1b.

NW Croatia is basically Kajkavian speaking region (in purple). Kajkavci and Slovenes are genetically (and liguisticaly) closest relatives.

But the Northern part of the Chakavian area is also very Western, isn't it?

By the way, "what" is pronounced as shto in Russian. xD

Yes. Dialect division in Croatia is based on way how you pronounce ''what''. Kajkavians say kaj, čakavians ča, and štokavians što.

Russians are Štokavians than, and thus Serbs, because Serb nationalist consider all Stokavians Serb

Do you regularly hear kaj in Zagreb and surroundings?

It's less and less man. City is defacto Štokavian now due to huge immigration of BiH Croats. Like 300 000 came in last 25 years alone, and there were lot of them before in city (plus Dalmatians).
But countryside surrounding Zagreb remained hard core Kajkavian, people became more stubborn to keep their native speech after štokavisation of city occured.

Many 2nd or 3rd generation Zagrebians adopt Kajkavian speech though even if their parents/grandparents weren't native speakers.
