NE Spanish v. S/SW French city councilors: state main phenotypes and compare them

I chose two close regions to compare and point out the similarities and differences.
Granted, there will be some overlapping, but in my opinion the two samples - which we can extrapolate to the populations as a whole - look fundamentally different, the French being much less "Medish" looking overall even though they're just a few degrees north of NE Spain.

Both look western shifted, the spanish more atlanto-med and the french more atlantid.
Despite different, they are similar.

I think the average Spaniard group should be lighter than this one. (I'm not blaming you for cherrypicking, just saying that 25% of Spaniards have light eyes and it isn't shown here, also the average Spaniard has lighter skin than what posted).

I didn't cherrypick, I chose a random city and posted every city councilor who had a photo. In the French group I excluded the foreigners (Spanish, Portuguese, Italians and North Africans).

You can check other cities. The pattern is the same so I doubt that is it.

French are more varied, there are Mediterranean, Celtic and Germanic phenotypes among them, even in South.
Spaniards are more homogeneous, predominantly Mediterranean, even in north.

Portuguese people to my opinion are better looking than the Spanish must be because they are more of Mediterrean stock.

Agreed. I fail too see any significant difference between Spanish people from any region. There is a slight one though, that might come as unexpected to some, but I’ll leave it for another occasion.

I agree, in Spain it's possible to see blond and blue-eyed Andalusians and Catalonians/Asturians who are dark as fuck. The distribution of phenotypes is more random between regions than in Italy. Because in Italy you know that someone from Trentino or Piemonte has more chances of being light than someone from Sardinia, for example.

Really? My opinion is that they don't. Faces from central to NE, E and SE Spain, many times, look very foreign to me. And some phenotypes are so typical to Spain that I couldn't picture them anywhere else in the world. It's not that I'd like the Portuguese to look the same as them.
