Were the ancient Xiongnu an Indo-Iranian/Indo-European people? What is their complex Origin?

From what I've seen, many Turks have claimed they were a complete Mongoloid people, while some others have claimed they were mainly Euro-Caucasoid people of Eastern Iranian origin with little Mongoloid admixture.

Are they somehow related to the Eastern Saka (Scythian), Pazyryk Saka, Wusun and Tocharians?


What exactly is their origin?
