About 38% of southern Italians seem to be genetically closer to the Lebanese than to northern Italians.

Especially in Calabria, Campania and some parts of Sicily.

the remaining 62% is made up of people who are either genetically closer to northern Italians or an apparent in-between of them, therefore mouldable like 50% Lebanese and 50% northern Italian.

So it seems by consulting these two threads:

The total is made up of 37 people.

I remember that northern Italians tend to be genetically more exotic than Iberians.

Take into consideration that according to that curious amateur application of the Eurogenes K36 Italians are often closer to Levantine groups than Lebanese, but I have not taken this into consideration…

Skeptical about this, Phonetician colonization of Southern Italy wasn't as extensive as the Greeks, they are likely genetically closer to Greeks. Even if they are closer to Lebanese than North Italians, would be a more interesting comparison if there was samples from the Ionian Islands, Western Greece or Peloponnese.

Well obviously Southern Italians are closer to Greeks than to Northern Italians or Lebanese. That isn't up for debate. From the genetic plot maps I have seen it is entirely possible a large minority, less than half but more than 1/4, of Southern Italians would land closer to Lebanon, than, say, to Milan.

This seems bullshit to me, I'm closer to some northern Italians than Calabrians, and I'm from Apulia

That makes sense. They are impossible to tell apart.

The Levantine reigon are very close genetically to south Europe so it’s not out of the realm of possibility I wonder what the percentage is like for those from Malta especially and Sicily
