Indeed. It's such a pity that most Assyrians can only speak their language, but not write/read it.

Assyrians are very much distinct from other middle easterners. :) They are not just a religious group.

New year was 3 months ago for me. :)

Short history. Assyrians are the natives of Upper Mesopotamia (parts of Iraq, Syria, Iran and Turkey), our country was called Assyria and we had many empires that dominated the Middle East. Today we are a Christian minority who speak Neo-Eastern Aramaic dialects (Assyrian) and we belong to churches with a Syriac (Middle Aramaic) liturgy. Due to wars we've been spread all over the world (2,000,000-4,000,000) and our presence in the homeland is pretty weak.

The 0 represents the founding of Ashur, the first city that Assyrians inhabited.

No problem bro, Kurds do live in the same region and have for the last 200-300ish years. Kurds are closer to Iranian populations genetically, while we are closer to Mandeans and Mesopotamian Jews. Yes Chaldeans are Assyrians, they are from villages in the Nineveh Plains which is like the historical center of ancient Assyrians.

We absorbed a lot of foreign ethnicities which may have made us different from the Mesopotamians in the Southern regions. For instance we assimilated Hurrian tribes (Anatolian/Caucasus region). Could be why we are similar also to Armenians.
