If people of Levant are intermediate between Mediterraneans and Arabians, why are they brachy?

Both Mediterranean and Arabian types are dolicho but people of Levant are mostly brachy as shown:

I always wondered why too. There are a lot of Syrian and Lebanese people living in here and actually most of them look doli and nearly non of them have flat occiput but most map like the one you posted says the opposite! I would like to hear from others that are more familiar with the topic.

Maybe cradling might also be affecting the cephalic index. Maybe Levantines there are more educated since they live in Europe and do not make their babies lie back of their heads?
