ZAGREB -- Municipal Prosecution in Zagreb has filed charges against Croat war-time Assistant Interior Minister Tomislav Merčep for war crimes in Croatia in 1991.
He is accused of being in command of a police unit which committed war crimes against Serb civilians. 43 Serbs were killed and three disappeared.
The Municipal Court in Zagreb has confirmed that the indictment was received on Wednesday and that the court will on Friday decide whether to extend Merčep’s custody that he had been in since December 10, 2010.
