Unfortunately, I don't think she's white. My guess is she is at least partially Cape Coloured, Malaysian traits can be seen in her. Look at the snub nose, for one thing. She must be from the Cape Town region. And no doubt, her most famous song is Kaapse Draai.

Really?! LOL! :D I couldn't have noticed from the video alone. The song rules though :p

Some screenshots from this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9WQcYqkKT0).

In some of them she looks more Malaysian than European. Almost certainly mixed-race. Her accent is from the Cape too.

LOL :D

The accent does sound slightly Capey (Cape Coloured), I must admit. :thumbs up

By no means am I saying all those from the Cape are non-white, it's just that over 90% of the Kleurlinge are in the Cape. ;)

Of course of course, understood.

I probably wouldn't even have noticed this as I wasn't paying close attention but after you pointed it out I think you're spot on. It looks like there may be some traces of Khoi and Malay (straight hair) there.

The pronunciation also sounds a bit forced in places.... like she's trying to sing "in standard Afrikaans" instead of reverting to "Kaapse" pronunciation which would have come more naturally to her.

Cape Malays (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Malay)

The Cape Malay community is an ethnic group or community in South Africa, taking its name from what is now known as the Western Cape of South Africa and the people originally from the Malay archipelago, mostly Javanese from Indonesia, who started this community in South Africa.

It is estimated that there are about 166,000 people in Cape Town who could be described as Cape Malay, and about 10,000 in Johannesburg.

They are Muslim in religion.

I think you are right, Loki. I couldn't see it at first but the second picture is very clear. She is still enchanting though as her European looks seem to prevail most of the time and I must say: splendid voice (I could understand every word she sang). After I have seen her website (http://www.nadinenadine.co.za/) I am sure that she is mixed and not fully Afrikaans or European (she has a photo album there).

I hope that she will have some success here too.
