Divjak, who was released on bail shortly after his arrest, is awaiting extradition hearings in Austria. Serbia has requested his extradition

as part of investigation into his alleged involvement in an attack on a convoy of the Yugoslav People's Army as it was leaving Sarajevo in May 1992.

This case is particularly significant because Divjak, who was born to Serb parents, fought for Bosnia's state army during the war. He is a self-declared Bosnian.

The "Education Builds Bosnia and Herzegovina" foundation, of which Divjak is the executive director, said on Thursday that Divjak had sent letters to top Austrian officials, including the president, the chancellor and ministers, saying that his Austrian lawyer has provided the judicial authorities in Vienna with evidence denying allegations that he was responsible for what happened in Sarajevo's Dobrovoljacka Street in May 1992.

A disputed number of officers and soldiers were killed when clashes erupted between the retreating troops from the Yugoslav People's Army, JNA, and the forces defending Sarajevo.
