Does anybody remember Atari? My parents owned a record/electronics store (anyone here know what that is haha?) and our family always had the newest technology, and once upon a time this was 'new', and a 'technology' :) Anyway, I loved it and some great games that come to mind are; Donkey Kong (Fun fact: the first appearance of Mario in a video game, I think), Pitfall, River Raid, Kaboom, E.T., Asteroids, and Journey Escape.

The Fallout series was good. I watched a six hour YouTube video gameplay for The Last of Us before buying. It’s clear to say I loved this.

I’ve played Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Pretty certain I’m a Quantic Dream fangirl. Heavy Rain > Beyond: Two Souls.

I’m still salty over the fact I beat VR Missions 96%, but couldn’t get past the Nikita missile area where you had to make it ride up 2-3 inclines to destroy a target. Wasn’t fast enough. Yes, but think Kingdom Hearts as something alien.

Final Fantasy is a different thing each game, no relation between them except when it's a continuation or spin-off. There's some continuous lore (Chocobos, Magic, etc) but you can play FF VII without playing FF IV, for example.

I feel like the game style of WA2 really affected how I view aesthetics for gaming and game character concepts, much like how Tomomi Kobayashi did for SaGa Frontier/SaGa series, and Yoshitaka Amano did for Final Fantasy series.

I'm actually enjoying XCOM - Enemy Unknown.

It's a turn based strategy game, where you control a squad of soldiers of the XCOM secret organization, their task is to fight the alien invaders and to acquire and develop new technologies. Once you learn how to play and to manage your base and economy, it's like playing a chess game. Missions are addictive, once you finish a mission you say "just one more turn", but you continue to play again and again!

I barely touch a console anymore but Zelda:The Wind Waker was the best game I've ever played.

Others not mentioned include CnC Red Alert, Doom(my father was addicted to it and played it on MS DOS, gave me the chance to kill alien by the time I was three and called the Slavovlach protagonist uncle Basili because he looked like my godfather), Starcraft, Devil May Cry, NFSU, Halo, Metroid Prime

I played Skyrim and Fallout 3, I could never try Oblivion.

Skyrim due to its setting and vastly better gameplay, but Oblivion had much better quests for sure. Fav Fallout game was New Vegas

And that also happens with the characters?

No, the setting/characters are re-invented. Best ones in the series are, imho, the latest one (FF15), the mmo one (FF14<-this one is the best but needs sub and time investment) and FF8 from the old ones.

That game has the same style as League of Legends.

They are very different games in style and gameplay, Maybe League of Legends uses the same graphic engine?

XCOM looks like a chess game where you must think carefully every move.

Singleplayer: Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Witcher 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Europa Universalis 4, KOTOR 1+2. And I wouldn't count this last one as an all-time favourite, but a few weeks ago I discovered a really unknown game called Eastshade and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who likes chill/relaxing games in a beautiful environment.

Multiplayer: Quake Live (rip), and CS:GO. Haven't played quake in years, but I used to be a 2000 ELO CA player at one point if that means anything to anybody here. Currently GE in CS:GO, and I probably play two or three games a week.

I think it was much better. Something in the atmosphere in the game. There is something dark and mysterious in it (which is helped by the music). I, particularly, found all the myths and prophecies to be very interesting and it gave a lot of depth to the game.

Oblivion is my favourite game of the two, but you are completely spot on here. The world building in that game is probably second-to-none, even now, 17 years on. The other main thing I loved about it that has been lost in subsequent Elder Scrolls games is that you felt like a part of the world, rather than the world revolving entirely around your axis the entire time. Much more immersive.

Morrowind is very hard, while Oblivion and Skyrim are surely easier to play.

In Morrowind you have no compass to indicate the quest objectives, it's an old-style RPG game, made for old-style RPG players, you have to deduce where your objectives are located just reading the quest log. Moreover the combat system is clunky.

Of the games of this series I prefere Skyrim. I occasionally replay it, and it's always a good experience.

Last time I broke the left mouse key, and I had to replace my mouse; damned archer character!

As my character served the House Hlaalu, I made sure that, when I ended up getting that house near Balmora, that I kept a handy supply of books. I wanted to understand the mythology that was ingrained in it so I began to read every single book out there when I was in a bookstore or a library - used to hang out in the Ashland regions a lot as well. Nice. I always used to go for the same hack/slash with magic combo but as a Nord instead, and sometimes I'd play Khajiit for stealth. I don't know why but I've always hated the Bosmer, perhaps their gay voices in Oblivion ruined their appeal for me or something.

There's unironically nothing wrong with playing videogames as long as real life always comes first IMO. You're definitely right that it can be a big problem (I remember reading about a mother here in England who didn't feed her children for two days and let her dog die because she was too busy playing an MMO to feed them), but such instances are very rare. In my experience most people who play games are very normal and the stereotype of a fat, sweaty nerd chugging Mtn Dew and scoffing Doritos pretty much never reflects reality.

Yea I did quite a few Nord playthroughs especially when Bloodmoon came out. I was the player who always wanted to raid the Daedric dungeons and go for all the Saints weapons so I either had to take no damage since I started at lower levels or be beastly enough to clear the dungeon head on. The Orcs were the best with heavy armor plus they have Berserk which can be super useful in those early on enemy engagements. I actually got an Orc strong enough to kill Vivec head on, with the little help of enchanted leaching weaponry of course.

Actually, at the time of the PS2, the gamecube did not have much difference with the PS2 software and the first Xbox, it was from the Wii console, that Playstation and Xbox were taking a long distance.

Gamecube was one of the best Nintendo consoles for me, it is in the top 3
1 Nintendo 64 (this console was epic) but when I was born it was already discontinued
2 Nintendo Switch
3 Nintendo Gamecube
4 Nintendo Wii
5 Nintendo DS

But Game Cube had a superior hardware (better graphics), that's why some games like Resident Evil 0 and Rebirth were only released to the Nintendo console, Shinji Mikami, Resident Evil creator, used to say that the inferior hardware of PS2 wouldn't be able to process these games graphics, you can notice that the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4, which was originally a Game Cube exclusive, had inferior graphics.

I played tera online back then along a few other mmos like guild wars 2, but never reached too far, gearing, grinding, thats not for me probably. I bought the witcher 3 not long ago coz it was a big hype when came out, game of the year etc.. It's fine but I did not play the previous chapters, + a very annoying quest made me quit :D Can't really name a big rpg game right now. Shadow of rome the gladiator was one of the favs, on ps2. You probably will like it. It even more fun expanding the game with mods.

The first Elder Scrolls i tried was Oblivion, it was mindblowing to me in that time and i remember i got addicted and forgot everything around me(school, friends, etc). xD
Probably i played 500 hours with all my chars. In Skyrim i had almost 1000 hours of gameplay accumulated.

Not really much of a video game player, but some favorites across time:

--The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind
--The Witcher 3
--Civilization III and IV
--Europa Universalis III
--Final Fantasy IX
--Final Fantasy Tactics
--Final Fantasy VII
--Suikoden II
--Dynasty Warriors 3
--Mount and Blade Warband
--Soulcalibur II
--Xenoblade Chronicles

Of the above I'd say Final Fantasy IX and VII were the most memorable childhood/adolescent games for me, Dynasty Warriors 3 and Civilization 4 I played the most with friends, and The Witcher 3 is the best overall quality gaming experience I ever had, despite some flaws. That said modded Morrowind is the one I return to the most, both for nostalgia factor and general fun.

I wish I could still enjoy video games, sadly I'd often rather do nothing than play games these days.

I just used to did it once and then use the fast travel when i needed to go back to some city or place like that.

If somebody can help me identify the game from early 2000s - RPG for Playstation 2 with absolutely brilliant graphics (was considered best at that time)

You dont do much in the game just exploring gigantic fantasy worlds with huge grasslands, big monuments LOTR/GoT like. Beautiful nature etc, kinda medieval like. I forgot the goal of game but it was more atmospheric and you had to be patient for something to happen.

Had subtle soundtrack too and film like atmosphere.
Anyone has idea ? Thanks.
