In order to 'Cross-Check' your Archeogenetic Matches with the GedMatch Kits of their Ancient Samples, adjust your SNP query settings for the Autosomal one-to-one Comparison on GedMatch. Of course this is the easy part, but to start set the SNP minimum to length 50 with 2CM required. This is the tip of the iceberg however, as there is a bit more complex work to do beyond a simple comparison to clear up the results, but a good start!

Even though I've actually got Norwegian ancestry, there's no reason why I should be plotting closer to Norwegians than British Isles populations. I read somewhere on the other mytrueancestry thread that the modern populations use the Eurogenes K15 calculator, which if true would likely mean the two calculators are separate. According to the reference population section on their site, Orcadians are roughly as closely related to Vikings as Swedes, which smells like absolute nonsense to me.

I don't think it's K15 since that one is actually pretty accurate.

To be honest, I don't think it's worth reading too much into. The populations they throw at you aren't way off, but they're not worth trusting unconditionally IMO. I don't know which calculator MTA is using, but Eurogenes K13 and K36 seem like much more reliable calculators for predicting populations (for me at least). I just view this site as a bit of fun, unlike GEDMatch which actually means something :)
