What kind of witchery do you practice? And why?

Define witch?
A person who practices sorcery? Not talking about Zoroastrian priests or Biblical Magis here. More like sorcery or occult related stuff. I guess we can count Wiccans as well.

Are Wiccans not some kind of new age style pagans?

Pagan witchcraft. Contemporary witchcraft. Modern paganism. Go and figure. They do use the word "witch" sometimes. I guess we can count them as well.

One of mine as well, but it was of Cuban Santeria variety. Funny enough, she was one of my white Great-Grandmothers. She was blue eyed and with Spanish parents. My "black" great-grand mother had nothing to do with any of that. Go figure - going against type.

Not that fortune telling stuff. More like being a village / folk healer, performing purifying rituals etc. on the willing person, on your livestock, house etc., using various herbs, prayers and ceremonies using egg and stuff like that. She was a witch performing white magic & using herbal medicine, something close to szeptunka in the village called Sarnów located here. Her name was Wiktoria and her husband's name was ... Wiktor. Cute :D

Interesting that Spain, Portugal and Italy didn't have to go through this that much, since they were stable Catholic countries. They didn't have any competition.

Indeed. In the Dutch Republic, it was quickly done away with too but it remained a problem in the areas outside of her jurisdiction.

Here you have one Polish witch - healer, szeptucha from Podlasie. Paraskiewa Artemiuk performing a ritual and praying... her name & that mixed language she uses indicates that she's from Belarussian minority or a descendant of Orthodox Old Believers. I think it could be the same woman as in the video above.

Obviously there are plenty of Wiccans too in Poland, and self-proclaimed Witches of both genders too, but it's a different, unassociated thing.

Historically, shamanism played a pretty significant part in everyday Korean life. It still exists in some small pockets of the country now, but 95%+ of people are super creeped out about it. It's really disturbing, tbh. Friggin mental cases

I think shamanistic rituals go hand in hand with Buddhist traditions, no? South Korea has plenty of Christians by the way.

In Korea, Shamanism existed long before the introduction of Buddhism to the peninsula. They deal a lot with "spirits" such as performing exorcisms and regularly conduct in animal sacrifice. Shamans claim to see spirits/supernatural beings/ghosts 24/7 and their job is to kind of act as a messenger for these gods and ancestral beings, to help people's problems "back on Earth." So like there's rituals for everything; good luck, love, good health, etc. They claim to be "possessed" during these rituals, which allow them to communicate with the gods or whatever.

They'll literally like, swing a chicken 'til its head pops off, and like rub their face in blood after slaughtering a pig. It's just pure insanity aha.

Shaman music and dance is awesome though:

This probably had to do with the mini-ice age that they were experiencing at the time, as well as other stresses, like wars and religious instability. The wheat was infected with a fungus that was causing people to hallucinate. This is why I think it's unfair to judge people of that time too harshly for the things that happened.

Absolutely. For what I read the Dutch Republic was somewhat in luck as our climate was a little bit warmer due to the maritime influence of the North Sea. Plus, we had a (relatively) stable system of government (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_and_government_of_the_Dutch_Republic).

Many years ago when I was much younger like in my early twenties for short period of time I became very interested in Occult things.
I started out studying Astrology,Numerology and Tarot then later I would go to certain Occult book shops and started buying lots of books on Old occult rituals and ceremonies etc,. I personally didnt identify as a Warlock or with any specific Occult group or religion ...I just at the time had an interest in that stuff, eventually I came to feel that there was this weird energy around my house with having all those Occult books on archaic rituals /Aleister Crowley etc so one day I just threw all those books out and never went back to it.
Each to their own but I just feel that stuff leads to somewhere ... there is definitly an enerygy attached to that stuff and its not an energy of light.

I think because modern occultism is based on Judaism/Kabbalah. It's not for Europeans.
I'm not saying it doesn't work, but we have our own belief system.

I'm sure that many strange looking and acting people were accused of being witches. Some of them maybe were witches, some just seen as a threat for some reason. Some of them probably had mental health issues.

Wise move to get rid of that stuff. Not worth it. Same goes for Ouija boards and such things. A very wrong way to deal with the spiritual world.

I don't think you are any more safe from that "dark energy" if you practice more "traditional European occultism".

Do you think that Kabbalists influenced modern occultism by the way? It could have been vice versa. And all mystic traditions might be loaning stuff from Eastern religions anyway.

Yeah, they probably were not that strict about pagan influences unless someone was literally a non Muslim or a political threat. Some goes for Russia, they didn't burn many witches unless they were literally different people with different religions. Then they could get very bloody.
