Does he pass as francais de souche or does he look too 'extreme' for that?

If he was lighter skinned he would pass.

I'm still undecided as to whether ethnic French people look more similar to Brits or Spaniards. I think many if not most French people (with little or no foreign ancestry) look like the "non-exotic" 80% or so of Spaniards, but types like him look odder for France than even the most Germanic-looking Brit.

Because ethnic french lack of olive skin you can see among some southern european.

As a whole, they are in between with a much stronger alpine and dinarid element than in Britain or Spain.

Yeah that makes sense. Actually, perhaps it'd be more useful to say that ethnic French look mostly like a mix of Swiss and Northern/Central Italians?

That’s a lie as many other lies you usually spew. Even though olive skin is rarer in France than in Southern Europe by a long shot, many français de souche have it. Like Jacques Chirac, Pompidou or even Giscard d’Estaing. They still look distinctly French though and not Spanish in the slightest.

As to the OP, a quite common look among Castilians.

I think what Visage Pale means is the very dark olive skin found among some Southern Europeans of the kind that (superficially) resembles Arabs and even some high-caste Indians. By contrast, those French people you mentioned have a sallow skintone not entirely unknown even in the Netherlands.

I disagree. The people I mentioned have full-blown olive skin (however they don’t resemble non-Europeans).

Giscard d’Estaing:

OK, but the point is that some Spaniards (and Portuguese, Italians, Greeks, Albanians, Maltese etc.) can get much darker than that in a way that ethnic French seldom do.

Right. I just wanted to point out though that there is olive skin in France too among natives. Even in Germany (see Helmut Kohl).

Well yes. And that is one reason why (usually) I'm the one who argues with you when you claim that ethnic French people are more-or-less "standard NW Euros", as opposed to my constant claim they actually have a significant Med strain that sets them apart from the others.

Untanned. However, in my opinion, all of them have a skin tone that many Southern Europeans and even lighter MENAs do have. But as I said, they look totally European and specifically French.

Yes, my opinion is that most French will look closer to a standard NW type (not Scandinavian of course) than Southern one. Still, claiming that olive skin is absent is a bit of a stretch.

Dinaro-Meds exist in France. Actor Louis Garrel is an example.
