This chart represents the shared Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot haplotypes in Southeast Europe, the Near East and North Africa.
What I don't understand is the percentages, could somebody help me. The Y axis only goes to 8%, why doesn't it go up to 100% and why only 8%.
And if this is the case and lets say that 8% is the total. Des this mean that almost half of Turkish Cypriots have Turkish paternal origins? Here is the link:[url]https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0179474

There is not total. They identified common haplotypes between GCy and population X, or common haplotypes between TCy and population X, and then they tell you what percentage of GCy or TCy has these common haplotypes. In the case of Turkey, for example they found a number of haplotypes present in both TR and TCy. This chart tells you what percentage of Turkish Cypriots had these haplotypes.

so is it saying that more than 30% of TC have Turkish paternal origins

no.Based on the above chart(see the exact numbers below), 2.9% of Tcy have haplotypes that are also present in Turkey, 7.1% of Tcy have haplotypes in common with Greek Cypriots etc.

Based on this methodology only 2.9%. The accuracy of this method is another story though.
