Alina Knowles is a woman who may have saved a neighborhood baby's life during the Alabama shootings, by shielding it from the bullets while others died around it.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/03/11/alabama.shooting.rescue/index.html. The article about this woman included her photo, and the racial-type/ethnic-background immediately intrigued me.

[Since she has been interviewed by international media and her name/photo is on the press wire around the world, I think she counts as a public figure (if admins disagree, please move this thread)...]

I discovered her most-likely ethnic origin (probably mixed whiteAmerican and [something]) through a google search... It's not particularly hard to find, but to test your abilities and "for the fun of it" try and guess without looking. I'll post her "origins" tomorrow.

The first picture reminds me of the saying "the day you go out without make-up is the day you meet your ex and his girlfriend on the super market" :D

Ok...she looks like a mediterranid with hispanic admixture.

she looks like a mediterranid with hispanic admixture.Heh, not even close (if she is, ethnically, what her place of birth would imply).

Good guess though, it's what I would've guessed, that or lots of very recent AmericanIndian.

The woman is a hero.
God bless her.
And she is not bad looking.
All the rest is detail.

I forgot about this;

Here is her site:

--"25 years old / Samson AL"
--"Hometown: Dededo, Guam"
--"I’m a pacific islander I’m 5’ 5”, brown eyes, tan skin and I’m about 110lb, I was born and raised on Guam until I was 15, I moved to Warrensburg MO in August of 1998. I attended John F. Kennedy high my freshman year and Warrensburg high my sophomore to senor year I graduated in 2001. I’m in to sports, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, love to drawing paint, and write pomes, I sew love making quilts, backing, cooking, running swimming, and walks with my friends and my kids. I like to hang more...out with my family and friends. I’m easy going and easy To get along with, like to make new friend, always there for anyone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on. My very active son was born in December of 2002, and in May of 2004 my inquisitive daughter was born. They are my world, the reason for the smile on my face every day, because of all the silly little things they say and do, the reason I am the person I am today. And if you want to know about my heart it belongs to him, and he know how he is. No matter what happens he will always be with me and in my heart. othere then that you would have to come talk to me and find out"

Guam has a big military base. My best guess is then that she is part native Guamese (the dark "Chamorro" island people) and part whiteAmerican [via military].

The woman is a hero.
God bless her.

Agreed. She acted heroically and deserves respect for that regardless of her racial background.

Agreed. She acted heroically and deserves respect for that regardless of her racial background.I don't think anyone implied she should be "disrespected"; just that her racial background is intriguing.

BTW-
The reason I suspect she is not a fully-native Guamese is 1) her name, 2) that she came to the USA at age 15 instead of after age 18.

Guam is one of the biggest U.S. military bases so half-Military half-Native-woman is the best guess, IMO.
