Two teenagers who committed a string of violent robberies in London using a rambo knife and an axe to rob terrified victims have been jailed. Frankie Batchelor, 18, and a boy referred to only as, B, 16, were described as a ‘menace to the London public’. Batchelor was sentenced to five years’ detention in a Young Offender Institution, while B, of Stanford Place, Southwark, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in a Young Offender Institution. On August 4 last year, Batchelor was captured on CCTV smashing an axe into the windows of a BMW convertible, while the terrified passengers handed over their watches. Prosecutor Iestyn Morgan told the judge that Batchelor ‘approached the car shouting, using the axe to smash the windscreen and sides of the car’. During his getaway, he collided with and flipped a police car with his moped, after officers spotted him and gave chase. The unknown moped drive, who is yet to be identified, left Batchelor on the floor with a leg injury and ran off.
