He wasn't Spanish (I believe he was Irish but not sure) but would he have looked typical in Spain? Due to his resemblance to Salvador Dali and other Spaniards I have seen, I say yes.

Very common look. With that moustache he would blend easily in the Falange :D
He could pass unnoticed in other countries like Italy or France I believe

There is a theory that he was from Tabernas (Almeria) and was adopted. One of his surnames could have seen Guirao. :D

He doesn't look like either to me, in most pictures.

Walt Disney's type (Atlantid-Med) isn't rare in the British Isles as well as in France, but he looked indeed very Spanish.

Kinda reminds me of Vincent Price (http://www.google.com/search?q=vincent price&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rlz=1R1GGGL_en___IE345&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1280&bih=604) too, a very western euro look.

He looks a bit like the actor Imanol Arias in my opinion

(with the actress Ana Duato in the pic below)

I wouldn't be that sure that he wasn't Spanish. :D

Why, was he thought to be Spanish in disguise or something?

How typical is his look amongst Catalans?

So do you guys think he actually is from Spain, or do you think it is just false information?

If i had a little square moustache and blue eyes, I think I could pull off a decent Hitler as well :)

His eyes were a little chinkie for anyone to see if they were light or dark, in most pictures.

So you could probably pass for him anyway

I think Hitler's eyes were more or less normal. If you want a German leader with truly chinky eyes, try Hindenburg
