I haven't asked. I asked if he is Bosniak or Bosnian Serb or Bosnian Croat, he said he is a mix of Bosniak and Bosnian Serb. So he is not only Bosniak. Though they're all same at the end of the day as you said.

Yes, that would make sense. I think the name was something Bosnian + oglu at the end, don't remember as I saw it a while back.

In 1990, in Romania there were about 75,000 people of Turkish and Tatar ancestry, taken together (split 50/50 Turkish/Tatar). All of them were living southeastern part of Romania (Dobrogea) and were Muslim.

Since then the community lost 30%. I'm not sure what happened, people either left the country or entered mixed marriages. Either way, today the Turkish + Tatar population is 50k, and it matches the number of Muslims in Dobrogea.

In addition, since the 90s, some 10k Muslim of various ethnicity migrated to Romania. Most live in Bucharest.

Almost the same as you stated. I don't think there is a possibility to have Turkic ancestors for you since you don't carry Siberian and South Asian.

Changing from Turkish to Romanian names is a trend of the past 30 years. Names like Deniz are now Denis, things like that.

I don't think communists cared that much to put pressure on the community. The Turkish community is very small and constrained geographically to Dobrogea.
