In the Gedmatch Admixture page where you select a project (Eurogenes, Dodecad, puntDNAL, etc), instead of clicking on the default "Admixture Proportions (With link to Oracle)", click on "Admixture Proportions by Chromosome". Make sure to pick Eurogenes K15 in the next page if you're planning on doing this.

on 23andme, her 3rd chromosome is 80% Greek & Balkan, 18th chromosome entirely Greek & Balkan, 14th chromosome 60% Greek & Balkan, 21st chromosome 80% Greek & Balkan, 4th chromosome 13% Broadly Southern European.

So with original V5 looks more accurate, although there is no exact correlation with 23andme.

edit: actually on 23andme chromosomes come in pairs of two. The percentages are for the half of the whole.

Why do chromosomes recombine in such a strange way?

One of my chromosomes is 48 % North Sea and 8 % Southeast Asian. Impossible mix.

I just found that if you calculate the "center of mass" from the 22 xy coordinates, then the position is very different.
But that's probably because chromosomes have different length, so each of them have different impact: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK22266/

I just found that if you calculate the "center of mass" from the 22 xy coordinates, then the position is very different.

the first few chr count for as much as genetic material as the entire "lower" half, more or less, so yeah the magnitude is high on the first chromosomes

i don't think "Admixture proportions by chromosome" are accurate. i get too much Southeast Asian, South Asian, Subsaharan etc. i have 0 of those on the regular Admixture

for example my chromosome 16 has 6.6% southeast asian, it seems it plots near the Tatar point on the PCA, but it's actually getting pulled in that direction by the Southeast Asian admixture. idk what to do with that information

I've ran a few more chromosome tests and noticed a few East Asians % on Chromosome 5 which might indicate why it plots so East. On K15 it's South Asian + South-East Asian but it goes 0 South Asian and South East Asian + Volga + Indo-Chinese on K36.

0.1 S. Asian on K13 and everywhere else under average where it's always there. Nothing on MyHeritage either. K36 chromosome test places just South-East Asian. So probably not, who knows.
