On wegene he's 48% south asian, 40% chinese with 12% northeast asian/southeast asian mix. he didnt specify the last two parts.

also im surprised he gets indonesian, thai, etc when nepalis are a mix of tibetans and indians if we look at it broadly. idk why he didn't get more mongolian/siberian/chinese. im thinking that maybe its pulling towards se asian directon since he's a south asian/east asian transition. on gedmatch, most nepalis get almost no southeast asian so its interesting how the subcategories work on 23andme

yeah thats true but thats resemblance as a result of tibetan/indic mix rather than direct southeast asian input as the results indicate. nepalis dont score southeast asian on gedmatch, atleast not in noteable numbers. they're mostly east/northeast asian and south asian in varying proportions.

kinda. north and east is more mongoloid shifted while south, central, and west are more south asian shifted

the yellow(pahari) and other are mostly indic populations while the rest are mongoloid. this guy belongs to the newari (red) group. they're technically a tibetan/mongoloid group since their language (newari) is of tibetan origin but mixed extensively with south asian populations. They're almost half south asian as you can see. Most newars today live in kathmandu, thats why that area is red since they're the original natives of kathmandu while all the mongoloids from north and paharis from west arrived in kathmandu later. But tbh, all groups are found all over nepal in decent numbers today. These are more of their "native" regions?

on average yes but some can go to almost 20%. brahmins and baidyas are indian bengalis while muslims are bangladeshi bengalis. bangladeshis are slightly more mongoloid than indian bengalis on average.

yeah idk where this sea is coming from? so random. they need to work on their subcategories. my guess is that people from myanmar have higher tibetan admix so is it the pull towards them? but im not getting why thais, indonesians, malays are grouped with burmese lol. they're very different from each other.

his wegene results seem accurate though since he's getting 40% chinese with northeast and southeast asian traces.
