I'm half Balkan Turk half German-Welsh and this is about as "dark" as possible for me.

This is a stupid reference because the woman they used for type 1 is wearing make up that makes her look darker than the type 2 woman.

Ask a dermatologist or at your local drug store or skin cosmetician. I did and they said Im type III at drugstore and the dermatologist said Im type IV.

That one's pretty bad too. I think this one is fine, and it's the only one I can actually find my own place in.

I think 3?

I would say in the 2 to 3 range, you look a bit tanned there - but the lighting is not great. I'll go with 2.5.

Really?

I think I am 2 in winter, 3 in mild climate, 4 in summer tropics.

Overall just shapeshifter. Am I darker than Mortimer, only skin not hairs?

I know you have/had lighter hair and I have only seen a few pics of you, so my conservative guess was 2.5. I have seen light hair and type 3 skin combination on occasion, so I believe you.

This Ashkali gentleman from Balkan, he is good example light hairs with dark skin? Maybe 3 or 4?

I am using the chart from OP

Somewhere between II and III.

Why such a bold colour leap from II to III? So if you're not white, you are brown? Is it politically incorrect to use 'olive'?

I wouldn't call III 'light brown'. It's a classic olive colour. IV is light brown. V is moderate brown. VI is dark brown (darker blacks are still very dark browned). There are few ebony/black skinned people and there should be a VII category for those.

Your health is more important than your skin colour.

You're a 3 I think. Good olive, easily tannable skin.

I tried getting a "healthy tan." I live in South Louisiana, and Summer is in full effect. I had been putting it off, and the neighbors were giving me funny looks (they all pay people to cut their grass), so I went out last weekend to cut it. I normally wear long pants, long sleeves, sun glasses, a hat, a wet towel wrapped around my neck, and SPF Irish for any exposed skin that is left (it better be 75 or higher), and then I mow in intervals until I'm about to have a heat stroke. Last weekend I said to Hell with it. I went out in shorts and a t-shirt. Big mistake. Sun burnt in 10 minutes. I'm red as a friggin' crawfish, and my skin is peeling off. I'm mainly English/Scottish, and I think for a while I developed a minimal resistance to the sun and could slightly tan, but all that is gone now. I go from pale white to ruddy to burnt.

I want to add to that I don't care how Victorian era or womanly it is, my car was in the shop last summer, but just over a couple days so I didn't need a rental . . . I needed to get some food (and beer), and I was home alone, so I walked a full mile down the side of a highway with a parasol. That's right: An umbrella. You gotta do what you gotta do. If you are white as a ghost and live in a sub-tropical climate, you should understand,
