Is that Hebridean? As far as I know they're the most committed Gaelic speakers, if so, little bit surprised they ended up closer to Denmark than Western Norway.

I think most people from Britain and Ireland end up more similar to Denmark on that tool.

Very true. I have no known Danish ancestry and Denmark was one of my strongest matches on the K36 Map:

If he does I haven't heard it :) There are a few familiar words and phrases here and there I'm sure.

He left Ireland as a teenager in the early 60s when I suppose the Irish language was less popular and less institutionally entrenched, at least where he was from.
