HELSINKI – Several European countries have restricted gun laws in the wake of school massacres, gang violence and other gun-related crimes:

_Finland announced plans Wednesday to impose stricter restrictions on firearms, including raising the minimum age for handgun ownership from 15 to 20. The proposal was prompted by two school massacres within a year in which lone gunmen opened fire on classmates and teachers.

_Germany, where a gunman killed at least 11 people Wednesday, raised the legal age for owning recreational firearms from 18 to 21 following a 2002 shooting in Erfurt that killed 16 people, including 12 teachers.

_Belgian lawmakers passed strict new gun control laws in 2006 in reaction to the racially motivated shooting deaths of a toddler and her black baby sitter in Antwerp.

_Swiss citizens are demanding a referendum aimed at confining army weapons to military compounds and banning private purchases of pump-action rifles and automatic weapons — following a spate of suicides and homicides.

Yap now I am certain.... Europe wants total control and has it's governments ("independently") seek further gun control. Even Switzerland is going along with it.
I hope that we Europeans finally wake the hell up and cling to whatever guns we have left and arm the population.

When the two psychotic boys who shot up Columbine High school in Colorado, it was reported that they had broken 19 gun laws. All the gun hating liberals wanted to pass a bushel of additional gun laws right after that happened. So, I am sure that if those 2 psychos had know that would have been breaking 20 gun laws, they would have changed their minds.

Right.

Right.

It was more about the idea of keeping the guns out of their hands.

I'm sure it would be easier to take down two trenchcoat wearing nerds if they weren't carrying semi-automatics with live ammo.

Many of the laws that they broke were about obtaining guns. They were too young to buy and own guns. So just having the guns was against the law. Bad people will obtain guns by any means, all the gun laws do is try to keep guns out of the hands of average citizens.

For instance, Ombongo voted for a bill when he was a state senator in Illinois that would have charged a 500% tax on guns and ammo. So, your $300 rifle (average price for a low end deer hunting rifle for instance) would have a sales tax of $1500. This law would have made it impossible for most middle class Americans to obtain guns. Just what the socialists want.

Those they would give the guns to already own a whole MESS of weaponry that the average citizen can't compare with. Tanks, bombs, jets, ARMIES.

I don't think taking guns away from citizens is the answer to any problem. It's too ingrained in many of our lives. I think hunting is a legitimate reason to own a weapon, and I think if your Jihadist neighbor owns a weapon you should as well. However, if none of them had guns - this problem wouldn't be as widespread.

That however, is mostly out of the question, but if shifty people/young teens/psychotics/extremists had a harder time getting ahold of weaponry, they'd be a whole lot easier to keep from murdering innocents.
