West Baltic with East Baltic influences.

I have a question: Are these narrow -sometimes a bit slanted- eyes the norm up there?

It's something I see mostly in Scandinavia and since there is not necessarily an Asiatic component to them would it be true to say that it's a local adaptation which happened in Northern Europe (independent of what happened in east Asia)? This is a look which is not too untypical to the northern folk as far as I can tell...

Baltic influences are pretty common in Northern and Northeastern Europe. However, Baltic-looking people can pop up pretty anywhere but in Southern Europe.

I would think it is a genetic componet akin to the Asian. I think established that a good part of the populations came from the East.

I wouldn't say it's the norm, but it's not uncommon either.
Even some overall Nordoid looking types can have such eyeshape:

Not so uncommon in the British Isles either.

I think the chinky eye effect is something that has happened over time to adapt to the colder weather a lot of individuals from colder environments develop an epicanthus because they are more sensitive to sunlight.

Hmm, so it is as I suspect not because of eastern influence but rather due to a co-evolution of characteristics due to a similar environment.

For example can't it be said that Lappid people are indigenous Europeans instead of east Asian populations moving west (the most eastern place they may had been are the Urals I think which is pretty much Europe); therefore their "eastern characteristics" are not eastern at all... same with most of anyone with such characteristics in most of European countries.

Yes it is more or less just a way they adapted to the environment and that is why they have a similar look although I think there is a different between an epichantus on a Northern or Northwestern European and a Lappoid or Uralid. The latter have a more European education or look about them like Gunther said. The Dalo Faelids have an epicanthus fold that causes one eye to look larger than the other but it is merely a general look in Northern Europe or cold climates in general.

it is more Northern, not Eastern trait.

I agree but it does possess a pseudo chinky look that is distinctly European in nature.

Sure, but it is often implied that Baltics (for example) have an extra-European component to them, what if they're merely the indigenous people of the area who are simply more ancient than nordics proper (therefore they had the evolutionary time to have the adaptations they presently do)?

To an untrained eye, the woman posted in this thread may have some (relatively) recent Mongolid admixture (of course there are more telling examples than her), but my feeling is that she's fully European (as much as any other European) who is/was simply influenced by those indigenous genes which give her some of her specialized looks...

Just the East Baltids have Lappoid influences.

Lapps are European, but they do have some significant Asiatic influences.
