These with high East Euro are clearly recent mixed, or are from the Northern part of the country. I said many time, that the average from Eurogenes is far from reality. I live in this region too, but a little bit Northen, my origins are from Fălești (father) and Sîngerei (mother) districts. I think, I will have similar results.

On Anthrogenica (https://anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?6722-Romanian-23andme&highlight=romanian+23andme) exist a good thread with 23andme results of Romanians frome every corner of the country. "East Romanians" are Moldavians, and these from Sothern part have visible mongoloid admixture. Plus on average Romanian Moldavians score between 20 and 30/35% East Euro, some of them have even 45% East Euro. These similarities are the reason why I believe that all this East Euro component is not recent, but old, from Middle Ages (XIV-XV centuries).

You aren't wrong, mate. There is an attested legend where when Dragoș Vodă came to the land that became Moldova, he met a Pole or a Ruthenian and asked him if the land is populated. The Pole/Ruthenian said no, so Dragoș told him that he will colonize the land. Apparently that Ruthenian went to the Kingdom of Poland ( as there was no Ukraine at the time ) and came back with colonizers. It is said that Moldova was made half by Vlachs and half by Ruthenians, with the Ruthenians in the north and Vlachs in the south.

If you do travel northwards from South Moldova you do start seeing a larger proportion of blue eyes and light hair. Unfortunately I couldn't find more proper genetic studies on Romanians apart from that Moldavian one that only took samples from the Neamț county, which is arguably middle ground.

my biggest match on myheritage is a Moldovan. He has family tree and all 4 surnames are Moldavian/Romanian.

This person score very high East Med. Seems to have some Jewish ancestry.

You aren't wrong, mate. There is an attested legend where when Dragoș Vodă came to the land that became Moldova, he met a Pole or a Ruthenian and asked him if the land is populated. The Pole/Ruthenian said no, so Dragoș told him that he will colonize the land. Apparently that Ruthenian went to the Kingdom of Poland ( as there was no Ukraine at the time ) and came back with colonizers. It is said that Moldova was made half by Vlachs and half by Ruthenians, with the Ruthenians in the north and Vlachs in the south.

If you do travel northwards from South Moldova you do start seeing a larger proportion of blue eyes and light hair. Unfortunately I couldn't find more proper genetic studies on Romanians apart from that Moldavian one that only took samples from the Neamț county, which is arguably middle ground.

Yes, this thing is mentioned in old chronicles, but is not necessary from South to North, but from mountain area to lowlands too.

Can the east med be brought by an middle eastern soldier serving the ottoman empire? Or it is uniquely jewish? I have around 23% of east med on gedmatch and i score <2% druze, <1% northem levant and <2% ashkenazi jewish on ftdna myorigins 3.0. I am from galati.
