There are tonns of completely assimilated Ukranians with pontid phenotypes in Russia (Russians tend to have North Pontid way more often than Pontid). I have some friends in Moscow who resemble her distantly.

Throughout history a lot of "ukrainians" settled in Russia. Not to all Ukrainians are Pontid/Alpinid, I saw a lot of nordid-looking people from Volhynia.

I don't consider them an artificial nation (if that's what you are implying by bracketing the word) though some parts of modern Ukraine clearly belong to Russia with Crimea being the prime example.
