A man's face might hint whether he is bad to the bone, with scientists finding that wider faces might predict unethical behavior in men.

Wide faces in men have been linked with aggression and perceptions of untrustworthiness. Now researchers have discovered that broad-faced men appear more likely to deceive their counterparts in negotiations and are more willing to cheat in order to increase their financial gain.

Generally, there may be *some* truth to it, in that anecdotally I have found Cm-inspired(wide faces) to be more aggresive and socially extroverted. However, I'd suspect only those of lower intelligence would be "immoral".

Well, the old German taxonomists collected a bunch of facial traits together - which they labeled "primitive traits" - and said they were indications of criminal tendencies(among other things). I don't remember if wide faces was one of those traits.

I actually have a wide face, so do both my parents, none of us have a criminal bone in our bodies. Something is probably skewing it - most likely, the inclusion of wide-faced racial minorities. I notice that, on the list of the widest faces, several Maoris are included...

Statistically significant tendencies are not the same as a general rule which can be applied to every single variant.

Even if the tendency is there and makes sense, it might be restricted to a specific population with its specific racial and other genetically determined elements, as well as to a specific culture, in which certain people are more likely to act that way.

There's a big difference.

Metrically, I have a pretty wide face but I also have a rather long face so when expressed as a ratio, my face isn't that wide.

Well, remember - according to Kretschmer et. al, Athletic body types tend to be direct and honest, but Pynkics tend to be more "clever" and prone to manipulation. Both have wide faces, though. This complicates the study as well.
