I shave once a week.

I don't work in a trade which relies upon keeping yourself neat, tidy and presentable, so I tend to shave once it gets to a length which becomes too itchy and 'old man looky'.

I used to use that Gillette Fusion with 5 blades, but after awhile I decided I was wasting far too much money, so I just use disposables. I don't need a SUPER smooth shave anyway, more likely to get ingrown hairs..

I probably shave once a month...but, not my goatee (i hate that word, it's a fucking beard). My girlfriend is a hair stylist, so when she shaves my head, she trims anything she needs then. She always gets the upper lip, so I don't have hair hanging down in my mouth, cuz it would if she didn't do it. She used to hate facial hair til we started dating. I shaved it off once, and she didn't recognize me. Then, I got lazy on occasion, and eventually shaved it off.She told me I had to grow it back. My facial hair grows fast, so I get thick stubble really quick, and it tears her face up when I kiss her. If it gets longer, it's softer.

I go over my neck with a regular razor once a week, because electric razors are notorious for not doing a great job on the neck.

Nowadays, I use 3-head electric shaver, a Norelco. I get a much better shave from a blade, but, though I've been shaving for 70 years, I still cut myself even using a safety razor. I've never used a straight ("cutthroat") razor and, in my old age, wouldn't dare to. I started shaving with a Shick electric shaver which was nothing but an overgrown buzzer with a cutting head. I wonder if anyone else remembers electric shavers with breaker motors which had to be started by spinning a wheel on the side with the thumb .

Also, does anyone remember the Rolls Razor which came in a steel case containing a whetstone on one side and a cork strop impregnated with iron oxide, on the other, with a handle which worked the blade back-&-forth, edge- forward on the stone and edge-trailing on the strop ? An elegant device, but eventually, the blade lost its temper. (There's nothing worse than an angry razor ;-) )

This. And I found certain shaving creams are easier on the skin - Barbasol is the far better than Edge or Gillete.

You're correct, however, shaving more than once in 24 hours can irritate the skin which is why I don't do it regularly.
