In my opinion the Austrians are among the most darkwashed Europeans. Although the Mediterranean / Balkan influence is evident in a couple of players, most of them don't fit in Southern Europe and in group they are completely impassable in Southern Europe.

This team pass better in Scandinavia than most england and scotland teams.

I wonder If Faelids in Central Europe pre date germanic expansions? I think that look is more Prevelant in Austria than Sweden. Lainer looks part Gypsy, maybe not fully native. Ilsanker is very Balkan looking, most are German looking.

However, bear in Mind that many with German names will be of partial or full German descent, Germans are the largest immigrant group in Austria and have been for a long time.

I'm not sure about this, but it seems that blond hair is more prevalent among the Austrians.

A lot of Irish heritage (McGuire, Rice etc), however it barely makes a difference.

They look like a slightly more brunette version of Germans. It seems that Germans and Austrians have more extremes than do Brits, reflecting their geography and history - more blonde Scandinavian-like types but also more Med or Med-influenced types. In contrast, Brits have a lot more intermediate types (by European standards).

Slightly offtopic, but Austrians are quite diverse. Two of my childhood friends are full Austrians whose parents brought property on our island, they come every summer.
Guy from Salzburg looks very much like Manuel Neuer, sort of infantile Nordo-Borreby/Germanic type and he's natural blond even now as adult. Other guy from Graz is pretty swarthy, he's Atlanto-Med and if I didn't know his ethnicity I would have guessed him Spaniard.

They couldn't look more different, even in stature, one is very big guy and other is really gracile.

What's interesting is that according to genetics they have a decent chunk of early Slavic DNA, but it doesn't show in their phenotypes whatsoever.

The following look very English/pass as English easily:2,6,7,9,11,12.

Number 6 looks the most English out of the lot ngl thought he was legit English

Edit: I take it back I saw other pics of him he doesn’t look English at all this one pic he did tho. He looks very Eastern European influenced
