Hello there.

My raw data(FTDNA) run 160.000 SNP's in Gedmatch but my father's MyHeritage raw data run mostly 70.000 SNP's in Gedmatch calculators. Why MyHeritage raw data run less SNP than other raw datas?

*My father's results was came in 06.06.2019.

I think it's effect yourdnaportal&G25 results... That situation is very bad :/

Did you get your fathers results more recently?

Looks like all companies seem to be modifying their raw datas to run less snps; apart from ancestrydna (so far). FTDNA used to have the most SNPs but they cut it down.

Yes you are right but 23andme users have more chance because they convert raw data v5 to v3.

My father's results are accurate.

Check it again. Did you use the same calculator for your dad as for yourself? Eurogenes uses the most amount of SNPs. Did you use it for your fathet too?

My Father's Eurogenes K13 SNP;
78150 SNPs used in this evaluation

Me same calculator;
178889 SNPs used in this evaluation

I know MyHeritage uses the same chip as FTDNA, maybe they (FTDNA) even do the autosomal tests for them too.

My FTDNA results came in 2018.
My father's MyHeritage results came in June, 2019 (new chip era)

What's the reasoning behind these changes?

I think Leto created a thread in the beginning of summer regarding less SNPs at FTDNA. If you have less also at MyHeritage then it does explain things, probably both reduced at same time. They probably cut it down to decrease testing cost or smth yet kept their former prices, greedy motherfuckers.

Yes they changed from OmniExpress chip to GSA chip (the same as 23andMe v5).

They still have more SNPs than 23andMe v5 but less than they used to have before.

AncestryDNA is still using OmniExpress.

No, it is because Illumina stopped producing OmniExpress chips (which were better for ancestry markers, but new GSA chips are better for health markers).

I asked FTDNA Customer Service about it (because I was waiting for results of some family members) and they responded:

"We cannot run any of your tests on the old chip because we do not have any more of the old chip; our chip provider, Illumina, has stopped manufacturing the old OmniExpress chip and has forced us to switch to the new GSA chip. While it is unfortunate that this has negatively impacted your research, there is, regrettably, nothing we can do. If you have an insider at Illumina that can force the manufacture of what is officially an "obsolete" chip, we may be able to do something for you, but otherwise, the new chip is the chip your tests will be performed on. You can read more about the change here: https://dna-explained.com/2017/09/05/concepts-imputation/

Rest assured that we are still providing you with the same Family Finder product, and the new results from the GSA chip are compatible with older results through our matching algorithms. We are working with other organizations to ensure we are still capable of providing the best product to our customers, you can read about one of our affiliates here: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/gene-by-gene-selects-bc-platforms-to-enhance-its-world-leading-genomic-data-processing-services-675954313.html "

That wasn't me, I believe. Lukasz reported on that. But I've been aware of the issue as well. FTDNA cut the SNP count down to 77k for no reason.

I see, does also explain why MH has implemented health and trait reports recently.

The mofos at FTDNA have yet to give us free basic haplogroups.
