Mashallah, but it can't be higher today. Turkish society gets less religious despite islamist government.

I have the feeling it gets higher. At least looking at turkish individuals in Germany.

not surprising to me. Iranians are not very religious in my experience. Don't know about the average Saudi though..

These numbers don't say much. Maybe the Bosnian goes only on Friday (which has a huge cultural element to it) and the Saudi prays 5x a day in his tent whithout ever going to a mosque.

Im not suprised about Iran, my favourite islamic nation.

I think shia islam is a vital tool for geopolitics and social policy in Iran. Yet not many people seem to truly believe in it.

Aside from its admittedly dreadful government, Iran is actually one of the MORE secular and rational countries in the region. Even with the Mullahs in charge, I'd still rather go there than to its neighbours Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

More generally, it is certainly very revealing and interesting how most African and even many European nations have higher rates of mosque attendance than the Middle Eastern nations themselves do.
