I see that almost everyone has Italian on K36. What triggers exactly for Italian results?
My Italian is 11.16%. Is it average for Turks?
How much does European, Turkish, Iranian and Central Asian gets overall on Italian?
Does getting Italian means that you have some Italian ancestry or represent Mediterranean or some sort of European?
I also get relatively high Italian 18% on DNA.Land under South/Central European Category. I heart that DNA.Land is not very trustful but is it smth to consider?

But Ancient Romans aren't really the same thing as present day Italians like Ancient Anatolians have nothing to do with present day Turks. Same for other ancient populations and present day ethnicities.
Those Romans who colonized Anatolia and settled there are different, they probably mixed a lot with people there.

Yes, this is very strange.

My family background is 25% Breton, 50% Norman (mainly Western Normandy), 25% Lorraine-Alsace-Wallonia-Luxembourg.
Since all my ancestors were still farmers in their hamlets hundred years ago, I didn't expect any significant immigrant input.

I wasn't at all surprised by the Iberian component, I can imagine that some Basque and/or Spanish component may have permeated into Western France, but I expected as much Italian DNA (the Rhine region has seen invaders and soldiers from all possible parts of Europe). But no. Zero Italian. Very strange indeed.

Yes, but for centuries Venetians and Genoese traders and seamen were heavily present in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Many of them may have left some genetic presence in the area.

Thats a very complex and misterious part of European History. North Italy was for almost one milenim united with Germany, Iberia was isolated Peninsula was for centuries under an arabic cataclism-hecatomb. I suppose its because the foundation ground is a southern bell beaker europe and Italy much more shifted towards mediterranean foundations.

This is quite wrong. Do you understand what nominally means at least? It was not direct rule. The dominance of the HRE in Italy is irrelevant compared for example to the moorish Iberia. People in North Italy didn't speak German nor you'll find towns, churches or castles founded by Germans, except perhaps in Trentino.

Its much more the reverse, italians that founded churches, castles and towns in Germany, Catholic Rome influenced basically all west and central Europe, but genetically its not a big influence, its much more cultural and politically.
Despite the genetic results, I was watching Dark, a german serie and most characters would easily pass in North Italy. Most actors are some type of alpine with sone nordid, mediterranean, pontid and dinarid influences.

They score quite a reasonable amount of Greek
