My haplogroup is R1a and subclade is probably associated with gothic settlements. dad's ancestors were germans from Hesse ( i've got one match from volga german with surname Hess, lol), northern Germany and Holland

My haplogroup is a European subclade of R1a-Z93 and it has been found in Cantabria of Spain, an area which was a stronghold of the Vysigoths. In Cantabria R1a has the highest frequency all over Iberia. Vysigoths were living on Northern Balkans before moving to Spain so it makes sense to carry R1a.

Goths had mostly I1 and R1a haplogroups, with a small part with R1b-U106.

As a matter of fact, R-Y2902 (formed 4200 ybp TMRCA 2400 ybp) presents a very interesting distribution in Europe since it is also present in places where no Slavic migrations are historically recorded(My ancestors were from Hesse by paternal lineage)
And my matches is Volga German with surname Hess and Krause, Glass and Kube(the most closest)
