I've heard a lot of opinions on this. Some say that the majority is undoubtedly blond, while others say that a minority is.

What's the truth, and are Russians truly a "blonde nation"?

I preferably want the Russian members' opinions.

Probably depends a lot on the standard of "blondness".
If you count only light blond then it's pretty rare among Russian males. It's more common among children, women etc.
If you count dark blond + light brown then it's much more common already.

They are brown haired in general. Ash brown similar to Stears hair color.
However, lot of Russian regions are very blond.

On my island this summer were Russian tourists obviously from northern regions because many looked very Finnic, and they were blond as f__k!
Adults, kids, all of them.

From light blonde to dark blonde (that is blonde hair as a whole only).

Have you ever been in Russia? Because the fact that the Russian tourists you saw who were very blond might reflect ethnic Russians as a whole.

Not yet, but I also happen to live in Hungary and encountered lot of Russians as well as being familiar with their look.
They are not on average blond for sure. From what I've seen, this is commonest hair color among ethnic Russians

Most tourists, especially women, wear dye their hair. It is a phenomenon that occurs throughout northern Europe, from Russia to Ireland. I think that blondism is very common in the first years of life, but in adulthood it becomes brown, or light brown, however, seems that they don't accept this colour change, and since their adolescence, they star to dye their hair.

According to anthropological surveys, there is no significant difference in hair color between Northern and Southern Russians.

For example, Molokans are by origin Southern Russians and they are blond as f__k.

Totally false. Men don't dye their hair and they were clearly blond. Lot of NE Europeans are very blond naturally.
But typical Slavic looking Russians are more brunet.

The vast majority of russians have black or brown hair with fair skin and eye color varying from north to south.

This a typical russian. As you can see, he's far from the nordicist neo-nazi fanfic of 'nordic majority' in Russia.

I'm asking you as I've seen a lot of Russian tourists too (of course, as 1,5-2 million visit the country annually. The children are almost entirely white or light blonde. No jokes there. The adults are by the 2/3rds blonds as well. There are some light and medium brown-haired folks, but they're mostly blond. I will make a visit in Russia in the near future to see the whole picture.

When I think of blond, I think if this https://i.ibb.co/xH0yTXG/4-D299-FE4-761-C-4-B38-9177-89629-D7-BC592.jpg (https://imgbb.com/)

Most Russians aren’t close to this hair color though, the ones who are that blond seem to be in the single digits percentage wise.

There is a darker blond variety that is more frequently seen

https://i.ibb.co/PzGNBwt/E6-CEC176-E31-F-4488-822-D-37-D86-C051-E45.jpg (https://imgbb.com/)

Maybe 15-20% of Russians belong to this hair color, I’m not quite comfortable calling this blond as it can get quite dark in certain lighting, it’s more of a transparent color, easily blending in with the background.

Most Russians I’ve seen have roughly the same hair color as me

I never thought of my hair as blond, but I guess it can look a bit sandy/beige in certain lighting. I always thought I just had medium brown hair

Keep in mind there are also many Russians with darker hair than me.

Russians often have blondes, but most have light brown hair (adults).

Yes I agree, russians often have that hair color which looks blonde but it's actually "light-brown", some(not many) with a greenish tint imo. I have that too. I consider this type of color unique tho. But I believe it extends to some parts in SE and central europe too.

Most Russians I've seen are actually dark to medium blond, with an adequate minority having really light blond hair, as the first pic. But this light brown also is quite frequent amongst them. My neighbor for example, who's Russian, is naturally medium blond, but she dyes it platinum (with that Karen hairstyle).

Russia is too darn big of a country to be a “blonde nation”, it spans Europe and Asia. Blond hair is common in European Russia especially in the northwestern part. As a whole though, no more than 20% of Russians are actually blonde - haired ( various shades of blondness).

Blonde hair would be just as common in Siberia as in European Russia among the ethnic Russians who are the same and form 85% of the population. It would be lower taking natives into account

Average ethnic Russian is definitely on the lighter spectrum for Europe. I wouldn't say overall they are any blonder than Germans/Brits/Scandinavians, but many specific regions particularly above Moscow can be extremely blonde and Nordic looking.
