i made my first calculator
components extraxted from Eurogenes and Tolan claculators

download it here and open it in DIYdodecad or AdmixtureStudio
https://ufile.io/pmmdlrei

if you don't know how to open it i'll explain.

it probably sucks, but this is a beta version, next one will be better

those are probably your oracle results saved since the last time you used admixture studio. ignore that, just the admixture proportions are part of my calulator.
i have no way to make an oracle yet.

give me some ideas for the name of the calculator
something like Eurogenes, Dodecad or DoctorMcNinja, something along those lines

Too much northerness. I am not sure it is accurate calculator.

i picked the components based on this PCA. the 9 components are the 9 corners of the polygon. i think that means that everything within the polygon can be shown as a mix of those 9 components.

https://i.imgur.com/g08qm7c.png

these are the components:
African
East_Asian
Native_American
SouthEast_Asian
Finnic
Baltic
Scandinavian
Basque
Sardinian

maybe it's accurate, i'll see when more people test

...

In my case, the main problem is that you don't have a Middle Eastern reference population.

I generally come out as around 50%-60% Middle Eastern and 40%-50% European.

Generally from admixture calculators, I don't score any Scandinavian ancestry. The most Baltic ancestry I've scored is maybe 5%. The most East Asian I've scored is around 1%. In terms of African ancestry, I generally score between 2%(lowest) and 7%(highest) North African ancestry. Sardinian I suppose could be a proxy for general Italian and Greek ancestry. Same goes for Basque and general Iberian ancestry.

I am intrigued how to make an admixture calculator, and would be interested in learing how.

yes, middle eastern, i was thinking about how to solve that exact problem.. i think i figured it out. will be fixed in version 2.0 which will come out tomorrow
in this version your all your Middle Eastern is in the Sardinian+African components probably

How do you make an admixture calculator?

for this one i just took the components from eurogenes k36 and different tolan calculators and put them into this one. i can explain how i did that if you want.

there is also a way to make your own components from scratch. i haven't figured out how to do that yet. but i know there are some members on this forum who know how to do that. it would be nice if some of them made a tutorial.

Definitely.

let's say you want to make a calculator with 3 components, Pygmy, Siberian and Serbian.

when you run a calcualtor in admixture studio, all the calculator files get downloaded into the AdmixtureStudioV14/Calculators folder. all the files which you need are in those folders.
so for example, run Eurogenes k36, it will take around half a minute do donwload, then close it. then do the same with tolan K71.
now you have all the files that you need.

you can only do this with calculators which use the exactly same SNPs. look at the "admix.alleles" file in the "TOLAN_K71" folder. it has 2.444 kb. now look at the "admix.alleles" file in the "EUROGENES_K36" folder. it also has 2.444 kb. so both calculators use the same SNPs. now we can go on. (you can also open the "admix.alleles" file in notepad and see the list of SNPs)

now open the "k71a.F" file in the "TOLAN_K71" folder in notepad. now sellect all the content of the file (ctrl+a) and copy it (ctrl+c) and paste it in an empty libreoffice calc sheet (libreoffice calc is a free version of excel which you can just downlaod from the official page and install. it's very practical for this). the text import wizard will open. you should tick only "separated by: space". all other options should be unticked. then click ok and it will be pasted. than open another sheet in libreoffice, and do the same with the .f file in the eurogenes k36 folder. (edit: some calculators havae it separated by tabulator instead of space. you'll know which one to use)

now open the admix.txt file in the eurogenesk36 folder. admixtures "Pygmy" and "Siberian" are in rows 29 and 30. that means that columns 29 and 30 in that libreoffice sheet belong to those admixtures. now delete all other columns in that sheet except the 29th and 30th ones. now do the same with the "Serbian" from the k71 calculator.

now you have only 2 columns from k36 and 1 column from k71. now open a new sheet and paste the Pygmy, Siberian, Serbian columns next to each other.

than make a new folder and call it "SUPREME_K3". select all the contents of that last libreoffice sheet and just paste them in an notepad file. save it as "K3.F" in the "SUPREME_K3" folder.
than open the folder of any other calculator, for example eurogenes k36. copy the admix.alleles, admix.par, admix.txt and DIYDodecadWin.exe files and paste them into the "SUPREME_K3" folder.

now open admix.txt and edit the admixtures. you can call them whatever you want, but there has to be 3 of them, and they have to be in the same order as the columns in the "K3.F" file. in your "K3.F" file, teh first column is "Pygmy", second "Siberian", and third "Serbian". unless you pasted them diferently in that last libreoffice sheet of course. so your admix.txt file should look like this

Pygmy
Siberian
Serbian

then open the admix.par file. you have to edit 2 things. replace the "36" with 3, and replace the "admix.36.F" with "K3.F"

now you have a working calculator folder which you can open in AdmixtureStudio :D

Your result in oracle is just you:)

I know. I just wanted to see how closely related I was to the other populations that post here.

let's say you want to make a calculator with 3 components, Pygmy, Siberian and Serbian.

when you run a calcualtor in admixture studio, all the calculator files get downloaded into the AdmixtureStudioV14/Calculators folder. all the files which you need are in those folders.
so for example, run Eurogenes k36, it will take around half a minute do donwload, then close it. then do the same with tolan K71.
now you have all the files that you need.

you can only do this with calculators which use the exactly same SNPs. look at the "admix.alleles" file in the "TOLAN_K71" folder. it has 2.444 kb. now look at the "admix.alleles" file in the "EUROGENES_K36" folder. it also has 2.444 kb. so both calculators use the same SNPs. now we can go on.

Thanks!

I'll definitely give it a shot when I have the time.
