See we've got a few anime/manga fans on the boards, given that I'm currently working on a series of my own I'm looking for some creative input.
As of right now my story arch is within the realm of the Real Robot genre that focuses on mech technology that can be achieved with modern science (an example of a currently existing mech can be seen in the US Army Transportation Museum), some series that feature "believable" mech constructions being Armored Trooper VOTOMS, the original MS Gundam UC story arch, SDF Macross (this one being borderline as the mecha can transform in Macross so it's a bit in between Super Robot and Real Robot but more to the Real Robot side as there are attempts to explain how the technology can be justified in the series). Super Robot being completely out of this world mech concepts like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Aura Battler Dunbine and the likes that in no way fit within the realm of current achievable technology.
If you were to choose between which genre which would you prefer and why?
I myself favor Real Robot genre as I prefer things that I can make sense of. :p
