Lol how much Balkan do actual Romanians score?
it depends on the region. for moldova region somewhere in between 10% to 20% on average. sometimes more, sometimes less. southern ones 0% to 10% on average. i don't know about transylvania.

I think more indigenous Transylvanians lack a lot of Slavic input. At least that is a pattern I have seen. Perhaps the mountains were a good barrier.

We will see with Stears results, I know he is only half Transylvanian but still :P

My opinion is also Transylvania being more Balkan compared to Moldova, but also more Celtic, perhaps.

Transylvania is more Dinarid/Norid compared to Wallachia and Moldova, it seems. Is that right ?
So true Balkanites are predomiantly non-Balkanite?

No.
Wallachia is original principality of Vlachs, Moldova was later founded by the same Vlachs. In Global 25 the random Moldovan had most Sardinian admixture in the Balkans
Transylvania is also Saxon land

I am speaking about phenotypes. Moldovans in Global 25 are weird, they are more SW shifted than Romanian samples.

Unlike you, I don't have agenda. Given geography and history of Moldova, it is to be expected they will plot more northeastern than Romanian average.
But I am aware of internal diversity inside historical Moldova.

I've only been to western Europe (my bad) so I can't say for sure. If my Grandparent's Romanian Orthodox church was any indication, there wasn't a lot of dinarids but the occasional Norid. I'm not great with taxonomy, but I'd say the Alpine look was the most common with round heads and fleshy cheeks. They also had a somewhat unique appearance that is hard to articulate. With my grandparents, my Grandpa was fairly light, often mistaken for Hungarian. My grandma looked fairly med and could pass in Italy.

dinaric phenotype is mostly prevalent in the mountainous areas. only in the south-east is almost non-existant
If not for some nice members here (they know who they are), I would start to believe Magnolia's opinion about Poles.

Yes, that makes sense :) I think dinarization may be more of adaptation rather than proper phenotype, but I may be wrong.

Many Central Ukrainians have ancestry from further west due to Polish-organized colonization in the 1500s-1600s. Maybe this is why she scores Lviv and Volyn? Central Ukraine was sparsely populated before that colonization.

yes, people very similar genetically can look significantly different if they come from different regions. i always say that the envioment plays a very important role ...almost as impostant as the genes.

People can look different and have different phenotypes within the same family. My dad looks nothing like his brothers. One looks completely Germanic type Nordid. His other brother would only pass in the Caucasus.

Really? Caucasians usually do not look European (contrary to what some people online say). Probably 25-30% of them do. I can't imagine a half Romanian, half Polish person (am I right about his background?) not looking European.

Yeah that’s his ancestry I know it’s weird but what he looked like. He worked around the Caucasus during Soviet Union and everyone including the locals thought he was a local. I need to post pics of them because it’s crazy. The other bro looks 100 percent Nordid.
