More Northern Italian, more Southern Italian, or both equally?

In my opinion his best fit is Central Italy too.
If I am not wrong his parents were abruzzesi, but it seems that the surname is extremely common in Lazio and Marche.
It's one of the most common surnames in Italy though.

Yes, I know, it's related more with Molise/Apulia than central Italy.
But same to you he gives me more central italian vibes than southern ones... but of course he could seem pugliese or molisano too.
