Could you be more specific and tell us which is which. Your paternal haplogroups is it R-L23 or J1?
Haplogroup R1b L23 is thought to have been the ancestors of all the European R1b clades, it's an indi European markerm the Hittites among many other Indo-European peoples used to carry it. Trojans, some Greeks and some Balkan peoples had it too.

As for the J1
J1 is commonly found in the middle East and the Arabian peninsula. Some suggest it's a Semitic gene markers but I can't be too sure about that. With that said though, it's commonly found at high frequencies among the Arab world notably peaking in Yemen.

Interesting! yes my R-L23 is paternal and J1 is maternal. Wow thats insane, explains why my mom has such a strong middle east influence in her look without any recent middle eastern ancestors. so R-L23 is common throughout all europe ?

It's a matter of debate whether Y-DNA has any influence on looks or not.
Haplogroup R-L23 is an old subclades which most of the European R1b clades derive.
The oldest clades are found in eastern Europe and Anatolia I believe
