I think Iranid is more Common in Western Iranian Plateau(Kurds, Persian) , Irano Afghan is more common in eastern Iranian Plateau(Pashtuns, Caucasoid Tajiks , other Hindukush tribes) but at the end it is all bit of psuedoscience , classical anthropology is very eurocentric and large diversity of asians havent been studies properly.

I dont know what western means because west to Iran is Turkey and it is full of less progressive Caucasus brachycephalic types (alpine, turanid, armenoid, andolid, Dinarid)

Iranids are more progressive skulled (elongated skull, dolichocephalic) and Irano Afghan is a subtype with mild mixing from mongoloid types as a result you get pamirid, Indo iranid etc

I know this joke among Iranian americans who try to play Italian when talking to females in America. Probably most closest european appearance to Iranian would be Italian, even though I disagree.
