...European background is higher in Near Eastern populations (around 9–15%) than in Arabia (1.5–5%) while the African ancestry is ∼25% in Yemen, and then 4–8% in all Arabian and Near East populations except in Samaritans and Druze, with 0–2%. The UAE has a substantial pool from South Asia (21%) similar to the proportion displayed in Iran (24%), which falls to below 10% in all other Arabian and Near Eastern populations, except Turkey (18%).

Seems Turks are more South Asian than they are East Eurasian.

If you look at the supplementary information it shows that the samples they put under the South Asian category are mostly Baloch, Makrani, Pathan, and Burusho. In other words, about as west Eurasian shifted as you can possibly be while still being "South Asian".

Also, they didnt have a reference for central Asian or east Asian ancestry. That causes South Asian to be inflated. In other words it's bogus.

Baloch and Pashtuns are southern Iranic groups and they cant be regarded as South Asian. Its a stupid study.

It might be a result of Proto Indo European migrations. AFAIK, Proto Indo Europeans were part South Asian, genetically speaking.

I guess it's actually a Baloch/Pashtun type thing.

Whats the CHG average for Turkish ?

If we talk only about the Gedrosian element, which is more interesting for this thread:

Baloch: 55%
Turkmen: 25-30%
East Iran/Persians: 25-30%
Kurds: 25-28%
Azerbaijan/Azeri: 18-20%
Turkey: 11-16%

Turks are given away by their facial features not their skin color.
