I loved Sandukan the Lion from Malaysia. It is action heroe figure. In the movies he was played by a indian guy or punjabi. But is Malaysia Southasia?

It’s part of a region known as Indochina. In between China and India in terms of culture and genes but genetically leaning more towards China.
