Classify dark Italian counselor/therapist from Australia

I went to a rehabilitation center in 2013, where I personally lived with this man, Robert Mittiga, for 8 weeks. We did group counseling Monday-Friday for 8 weeks with a dozen other people.

He was like a father figure to me. Unfortunately, he has broken the law now (for being a therapist after his license was taken away) and was sentenced to jail.

When I saw him, I thought he was Sri Lankan, but there were other Italians in the rehab who knew him from their Italian community.

What is interesting is the other Italians were very swarthy,
But most people here I believe would still classify them as typical southern Italians. This guy was very different altogether though.

He don't look like the S.Italians of my family (not at all) but when he was younger he looked certainly less swarthy can't judge without young pictures.

He looks only like the darker "olive" type that you can find in Italy but I wouldn't picture him as a MENA or whatever.

Yes I always wondered what he looked like earlier. He has had a hard life (gambling, drugs) allegedly so maybe it has changed his appearance.

You have not heard of Burgher Sri Lankan?
They are light brown (mixed with Portuguese). That's what I was talking about.

Yes he looks like a darker version of my father. My father looks like me but a bit darker.

From those pictures his skin is far from "dark" i've in mind. Agree, not MENA, just S.European Med.

He doesn't look Sri Lankan however he could fit well as Lebanese, lifestyle matters at that age, also some extremely south shifted Italians from Southern Italy can cluster with the levant
