I've taken multiple DNA tests, not mainly for the ethnicity results, but to try and see if I can find any relatives of my 3rd great-grandfather (he was adopted, and there are a lot of family rumors surrounding him). Although my primary purpose was not to receive new ethnicity estimates, I still find the differences fascinating. I'll say which one I think is the most and least accurate from my family research.

23andMe
- 33.3% British & Irish
- 20.7% French & German
- 11.9% Scandinavian
- 19.9% Broadly Northwestern European
- 8.2% Eastern European
- 1.4% Greek & Balkan
- 0.4% Spanish & Portuguese
- 0.2% Italian
- 0.8% Broadly Southern European
- 3% Broadly European
- 0.1% Unassigned
AncestryDNA:
- 54% England, Wales & Northwestern Europe
- 16% Ireland & Scotland
- 10% Sweden
- 5% Germanic Europe
- 5% Norway
- 4% Eastern Europe & Russia
- 1% Baltics
- 1% Portugal
FamilyTreeDNA
- 70% West & Central Europe
- 19% British Isles
- 9% Southeast Europe
- <2% Eastern European
MyHeritage
- 44% North and West European
- 38.1% English
- 11.8% Balkan
- 5.2% Iberian
- 0.9% East European

In the end, I think 23andMe is the most accurate according to my research, with the least accurate being MyHeritage.

On MyTrueAncestry, my closing matching ancient populations are Celt + Frank (mixed together at #1). And yes, I've tried GEDMatch. It's interesting.

I think 23andMe is the best of the bunch right now too. Thanks for posting how you score on the full line up - it's interesting to them in comparison.

What (country) is your known Eastern European ancestry from?

23andme is by far the most accurate for recent ancestry. G25 is the more accurate for ancient ancestry overall.

The rest is mostly made of different degrees of trash.

I share DNA with some of those kits. I also matched with one of the Steppe matches on MyTrueAncestry.

I have known ancestry from Croatia and Slovenia. However, my adopted great-grandfather was the one I get my Eastern European from, and I can't find anything on my 3rd great-grandmother. However, my grandmother (one of his descendants) has a lot of 3rd to 4th cousins in Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, and Russia. I know those countries can't come from her other side of the tree, so I'm assuming there might be some ties to those countries.

yes 23andme is the best right now. Myheritage will update their approach https://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?300350-MyHeritage-UPDATE
let's see how good this update will be.
